Junior licence changes Some changes have been made in the 2009 Manual of Motorcycle Sport which affects the distribution of licenses to junior motorcyclists, effective immediately. The introduction of a new Mini Licence for junior participants aged 4 years to under 16 years on January 1 has now been implemented, which affects the issuing of Recreational Licences and Nipper Licences. The holder of a Mini licence will be able to participate in all the activities included under a Minikhana permit including the limited forms of competition. Minikhana riders will no longer need to purchase a junior competition licence. Riders wishing to participate in other forms of competitive events will still be required to possesses a junior competition licence. The Mini Licence will enable participation in the following:
The Nipper licence will no longer be issued, however riders in possession of a current Nipper licence can continue to use this licence as if it was a Mini licence. Upon renewal a Mini licence will be issued. The Mini Licence will cost $85.50 making it significantly cheaper for riders to take part in the above events, and this will make motorcycling more accessible for younger participants. Junior Restricted Licences have also been reduced in price, down from $170.00 to $85.50 to further encourage participation in Moto Trials, Mini Moto and Fast50 racing. |
